Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
